Will Brandon Knight be the Bucks’ long-term point guard?

The Milwaukee Bucks traded point guard Brandon Jennings to the Detroit Pistons for point guard Brandon Knight before the start of last season and they are happy with the results that they received.

More from Milwaukee Bucks

Brandon Knight showed quite a few signs of the full potential that the Pistons saw in him when they drafted him. He averaged 17.9 points, 4.9 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game while shooting 42.2 percent from the floor. There was no doubt that his confidence rose throughout the course of the season and he looked more and more like the franchise point guard that people thought he could be.

There have been talks recently about an extension between the Bucks and Brandon Knight.  It would make sense for the Bucks to lock up their young point guard, but the question that arises is whether or not Brandon Knight is truly the point guard of the future for their franchise.

Milwaukee is heading into a brand new era of basketball with Jabari Parker as their future franchise player and Brandon Knight is the perfect running mate for him. He can run an up-tempo offense and make plays for his teammates and can also score the ball to help relieve pressure as well. Brandon Knight may never end up being one of the NBA’s best point guards, but he definitely has the potential to make it there with hard work and good coaching.

When everything is said and done, it would be very smart for the Bucks to go ahead and get a deal done with him as soon as possible. His value is only going to go up as he continues to play well and the Bucks need to save as much money as they can for now. Brandon Knight is going to see a payday very soon, and the Bucks are going to commit to their point guard long-term.
