Danny Amendola has had a rough tenure with the New England Patriots, and we are now learning why he may be off to another slow start in 2014.
Last year, the New England Patriots brought in Amendola to fill the role of Wes Welker after his departure to the Broncos. After an injury riddled year last year, he hasn’t done much of anything for the Pats during his tenure and many have been puzzled as to why. We may have somewhat of an answer.

Amendola admitted yesterday to having surgery on his groin during the off-season. The surgery was to repair a torn groin muscle that he suffered last season but played through for most of the year. Amendola also said he went through the necessary rehab after the surgery throughout this off-season.
According to the Boston Herald, Amendola refuses to use this surgery as an excuse for his poor play this year.
"“It really doesn’t matter anymore, whether I did, or didn’t have the surgery. I’m not going to make excuses. I don’t want anything to seem like it’s an excuse. I’m over it. I don’t feel the need to talk about it. It’s in the past. I feel great right now. I’m trying to get open on every play,” he said. “It’s not slowing me down. I feel great today. That’s what I’m grateful for and thankful for. I’m just trying to prepare for this week.”"
While he might not want to use the surgery as an excuse, you can bet that some will blame his lack of production on the injury. Amendola has just 16 yards on 2 catches this season and has yet to see the end zone. The Patriots take on the Cincinnati Bengals this week on Sunday Night Football.
