New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker missed practice on Friday after he tweaked his ailing hamstring on Thursday. Decker had been limited in practice all week with the injury anyway.

Jets coach Rex Ryan is hopeful that Decker can play on Sunday against the San Diego Chargers, but the fact that he was unable to practice on Friday proves ominous. Most times when a player misses Friday practice because of an injury concern, he is not well enough to go on Sunday.
Decker first injured his hamstring on September 14th against the Green Bay Packers. He re-aggravated the injury in week 3 against the Bears and again in week 4 against the Lions. It might be prudent for the Jets to hold him out until he gets right. He has obviously been going at less than 100 percent over the last two games.
The Jets don’t have their bye until week 11 this year, so waiting for then to have Decker fully heal seems risky, especially with inconsistent play of Geno Smith at quarterback.
Decker has hauled in 14 passes for 204 yards and a pair of touchdowns so far in 2014. Right now he is clearly Geno Smith’s favorite target, but with Jets fans getting impatient with the young quarterback, they may be forced to make a move to veteran quarterback Michael Vick.
What that would to do Decker’s value is unclear. What is clear is that even if Decker plays, he could be forced to leave the game again since his hamstring is still bugging him.
For those of you that play fantasy football and own Decker, you would likely be better off going with plan B for week 5.
