Here’s the latest on players who are battling ailments updated through Thursday’s practice:
RB
Jamaal Charles-Kansas City Chiefs: Charles has been limited in practice, but he’s a full go as a RB1this week against the 49ers in a tough matchup.

Arian Foster-Houston Texans: Foster was limited in practice Thursday, and his week 5 status is totally up in the air for the third straight week.
Frank Gore-San Francisco 49ers: Gore is practicing fully this week, and he can be used even in a tough matchup against the Chiefs.
Ben Tate-Cleveland Browns: Tate looks ready to return for week 5, but owners would be wise to see how he works back into the Browns running back rotation after a couple of weeks out.
Joique Bell-Detroit Lions: Bell has been out all week and looks very likely to miss this week’s game against the Bills
Chris Johnson-New York Jets: Johnson is also practicing in full this week and he’ll be good to go this week against the Chargers. The fact that his ankle is no longer an issue hurts the value of Chris Ivory as the two continue to share work in the Jets backfield.
DeAngelo Williams-Carolina Panthers: Williams, Jonathan Stewart, and Mike Tolbert are all sidelined this week leaving Darrin Reaves, Fozzy Whitaker, and Chris Ogbonnaya to split the carries in the Panthers backfield.
WR
Calvin Johnson-Detrot Lions: Johnson hasn’t practiced, but he says he’s feeling better than last week when he was mostly a decoy against the Jets. If he’s in the Lions lineup, he has to be in your fantasy lineup, but he’s still not 100% so temper expectations this week even against the Bills.
Brandon Marshall-Chicago Bears: Marshall has been back to full practices, so get him in as your WR1 this week.
Andre Johnson-Houston Texans: Johnson has been limited in practice after an ankle injury last week, but he should be ready to play for the game against Dallas this weekend.
Golden Tate-Detroit Lions: Tate had a huge breakout game last week as Calvin Johnson was limited with his own injury. Tate tweaked a hamstring in practice on Thursday, though, so double check that he’s able to return to practice Friday before putting him in your lineup for week 5.
Eric Decker-New York Jets: Decker sat out Thursday after re-tweaking his hamstring. Keep him on your bench this week as he continues to struggle with injury.
Marvin Jones-Cincinnati Bengals: Jones wasn’t able to practice Thursday which would seem to indicate he’s not quite ready to return from his broken foot. He’ll be number two receiver in a good offense when he returns, but he looks to still be at least a week away.
Cecil Shorts-Jacksonville Jaguars: Shorts probably won’t play this week as he continues to struggle with a recurring hamstring issue. He’s droppable in all redraft formats at this point.
Donnie Avery-Kansas City Chiefs: Avery will be sidelined for the next couple of weeks due to sports hernia surgery.
QB
Jake Locker-Tennesse Titans: Locker has been practicing this week and is fully expected to play this week at home against Cleveland.
Carson Palmer-Arizona Cardinals: Palmer won’t be back for this Sunday’s game against the Broncos, and his timetable for return is extremely unclear as he continues to battle through his shoulder nerve issues.
TE

Vernon Davis-San Francisco 49ers: Davis hasn’t practiced this week due to back spasms. He’s a high risk play this week as he continues to battle his ankle and back injuries.
Delanie Walker-Tennessee Titans: Walker is struggling with a shoulder issue, but he should be able to continue battling through the issue on Sunday’s and continues to be a low-end TE1.
Jordan Reed-Washington Redskins: Reed was back in practice for the first time since his week 1 injury. He looks like he may be back for Monday Night Football, but it will be hard to plug him in sight unseen especially with Niles Paul’s emergence as a TE option for Washington.
Niles Paul-Washington Redskins: Paul also returned to practice after a concussion last Thursday night. His role with Reed’s return is hard to predict, so it would be best to see his role before plugging him into your lineup.
