Last year the Giants traded for then Carolina linebacker Jon Beason in the hopes of improving a lackluster defense. While he played well last year, he was injured during training camp and the preseason this year for New York. After playing the first two games of the year was, Beason was sidelined again with a foot injury. The Giants managed to win the two games Jon Beason missed and on Sunday it looks like they could have him back in the mix.

Beason talked with NJ.com, and he said he expects to play against the Atalanta Falcons on Sunday and that he will play through the pain caused by his foot injury.
“There will be an adjustment period, but I feel good about it,” Beason said when asked about his chances of playing this weekend.
“Yeah, you know, you break scar tissue,” Beason said. “We didn’t have the surgery so the scarring was actually the repair, if that makes sense. There wasn’t as much pain as the first time when it was a soft-tissue injury. You break the scar tissue so I don’t have a lot of play in my toe. That is the big hold up. I need by big toe to play football and push off, pivot. You try and compensate for a lack thereof.”
It certainly sounds like Beason won’t be anywhere near 100 percent when he takes the field against the Falcons and will likely deal with the lingering injury in the coming weeks as well. However, even a banged up Jon Beason is better than no Jon Beason at all for the Giants, especially facing an offense as potent as the Falcons.
