Guards Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash barely saw the court because of various injuries and the team even had to find replacements in the D-League. They had a few surprises like swingman Nick Young, who had the best season of his career. The Lakers hoped they could combine some of those surprises with a returning Bryant and Nash and newcomers like Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer to make a run at the playoffs.
That plan is already off to a poor start.
According to Mike Bresnahan of The Los Angeles Times, Young has a torn ligament in his right thumb and will be out about eight weeks.
