Jose Calderon could be a perfect in the Knicks’ triangle offense

When the New York Knicks dealt Tyson Chandler and Raymond Felton to the Dallas, most believed it was partly a salary dump and partly to acquire a couple of second round picks. However, the Knicks also received an upgrade at point guard in veteran Jose Calderon.

Tommy Beer of Basketball Insiders see Calderon as a perfect fit for the Knicks in the triangle offense.

"The Knicks will put up plenty of points next season. They have the second best scorer on the planet in Carmelo Anthony. They massively upgraded at point guard by bringing in Jose Calderon (who should be an ideal fit in the newly installed “triangle offense”), and have a bevy of skilled spot-up shooters to fill up the basket from three-point territory."

The presence of Carmelo Anthony should get Jose Calderon more open looks on offense, which should open things up for everyone.

Jose Calderon has played for the Knicks, Mavericks, Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons. Last season, in Dallas, he put up 11.4 points, 4.7 assists and 2.4 rebounds per game while shooting 45.6% from the field, 44.9% from beyond the arc and 82.5% from the free throw line last season. In his nine-year career, he’s averaged 10.2 points, 6.8 assists and 2.5 rebounds per game while shooting 47.9% from the floor, 41.1% from three and 87.4% from the free throw line.
