Philadelphia Eagles (3-1): Contenders

Chip Kelly has the Eagles flying high again. They have the most potent offense east of Denver. The Eagles are third in the NFL in scoring, putting up 30.5 points per game. They are tenth in total yards with 367.5 yards per game. They are sixth in passing yards with 280.5 yards per game. The only area that is of concern is rushing, where they rank 27th, rushing for only 87 yards per game. That is surprising with a team that has LeSean McCoy.

Even though they are struggling in the rushing game, they have Darren Sproles to help McCoy. As good as Nick Foles is throwing, opponents’ defenses will drop back and holes will open for the running game.

Speaking of Foles, he is the perfect guy to run the Kelly offense. While he is not having the magical season he had last year (he already has four interceptions after only throwing two last season), he is operating the offense pretty well and efficient.

The Eagles will face a challenge from the Cowboys and Giants, but they will survive and win a second straight NFC East title. Expect another early exit in the playoffs, however. But that’s a story for another time.
