After a dramatic comeback victory in Game 2 that was keyed by a bases-clearing double from Delmon Young, the Orioles have now roughed up the Tigers’ bullpen twice and they are looking to complete the three-game sweep this weekend.
The Orioles made an announcement as far as those efforts are concerned on Saturday. Bud Norris will be the starting pitcher for Game 3.
It is not clear at this point if the Orioles switched their rotation around because they believe Norris gives them a better chance to win or because of some other reason that has come up that they are not going to start Miguel Gonzalez.
Both pitchers were solid during the regular season. Norris went 15-8 with a 3.65 ERA 28 starts. Gonzalez went 10-9 with a 3.23 ERA in 26 starts. It will be interesting to see the explanation for this change and how it sets up the pitching for the Orioles for the rest of this series.
