Lovie Smith calls Mike Glennon a backup quarterback
By Josh Hill
Mike Glennon led the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to a come-from-behind win on Week 4, but he’s still the backup in the eyes of his head coach.
Mike Glennon is the starting quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in theory only. He’s only starting becuase current starter Josh McCown is out with a thumb injury and it sounds like it’s still his job to lose when hr comes back.

According to The Pewter Report, Lovie Smith still sees Mike Glennon as the backup in Tampa Bay.
"“The rest of the guys could be up and at least practiced on a limited basis, except for Josh [McCown]. Josh wasn’t able to do an awful lot, but could possibly play if something happened to our quarterback – our backup quarterback.”"
Talk about a slap in the face. How’s that what have you done for me lately attitude going in Tampa Bay? Glennon may not be an elite starter, but he’s proven over the course of his last few starts that he has starting caliber qualities.
After all, he led the Bucs to a come from behind win on the road in Pittsburgh, which should get him some credit. To be fair, Lovie Smith praised Glennon for that win, but the amount of credit it secured him clearly isn’t enough to garner respect. `
