Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat believes he is still the best shooting guard in the NBA when he’s healthy
Although most are predicting Dwyane Wade to continue his decline, Dwyane Wade himself believes he can still be one of the best players in the league. [related-Category]
“I want to continue to add to being one of the best players at my position in the game,” Wade said via Ethan Skolnick of Bleacher Report. “I’ve been put in the category of great players, and I want to hold up to that, whatever that is. But I want to be able to showcase it for as long as God allows me to.”
Dwayne Wade, once one of the two or three best players in basketball, still believes there is no one better at the shooting guard position when he is healthy.
“No,” Wade said. “When I’m right, there are players at my position that are probably more athletic than me. There are players at my position that can probably shoot threes better than me. That can do individual things. But when I’m right, overall, just like I’ve been the last few years, I mean, I can be a dynamic player.
“It’s unfortunate that, consistently, that last couple years, I haven’t been able to be that. But I’m not going to stop working to get there. I’m going to put all my efforts toward doing it. Because the moments where I feel, ‘Oh, it feels so right,’ it feels so good.”
Although being the best shooting guard in the NBA may not even be possible any more, Dwayne Wade is still an excellent player. Dwyane Wade averaged 19.0 points, 4.7 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 54.5% from the field, 28.1% from three and 73.3% from the free throw line last season.
