Michael Pittman bows out of Hall of Fame induction over domestic abuse
By Josh Hill
Fresno State was set to induct former NFL running back Michael Pittman into the university’s Hall of Fame, but he bowed out due to his past with domestic violence.
Michael Pittman hasn’t made headlines in a while, but the Super Bowl winning running back is in the news again for a bittersweet reason.

Pittman was set to be inducted into the Fresno State Hall of Fame following his impressive career at the school and then subsequently in the NFL. But throughout his career, Pittman made headlines for the wrong reasons and that has all come back around to today.
According to The Fresno Bee, Pittman has pulled bowed out of his Hall of Fame induction due to his past domestic violence arrests throughout his life and career.
"“In light of publicity caused by the number of current NFL players involved in recent domestic violence cases, Pittman felt that he did not want any unwanted attention or embarrassment to the Fresno Athletic Hall of Fame, Fresno State or his family,” hall spokesman Paul Quebe said."
It’s hard to say this was admirable because of why Pittman is bowing out of the induction, but it’s as close as it can get. He wasn’t recently arrested for domestic abuse but Pittman has a record throughout his career of such a thing.
His dropping out of the induction at Fresno State was the right move, but it serves as a moment of acknowledgement that so many abusers refuse to arrive at.
