Neither player is injured, but both are coming off stints with their respective national teams—Davis with Team USA and Asik with the Turkish national squad—at the recently completed FIBA World Cup.

Coach Monty Williams told the New Orleans Times-Picayune he’s considering resting the pair Saturday night.

"“Omer and A.D. played a lot this summer already, so I got to modify how much I play these guys. So we probably will see a lot more guys on the floor and playing in different rotations to make sure those guys get a quick blow. But at the same time we don’t want to overdo it in the first couple games.”"

Davis said earlier this week he wouldn’t need any special consideration, but would respect any decision Williams made.

"“It was a long summer, a long summer. I know my body. (Williams) was there with me, so he is probably feeling the same thing. I trust his decision, Whatever he wants me to do. I’m 21 so if he wants me to play, then I’m going to play. But if he wants to get me ready for the season, then I’m happy to do that as well.”"

Williams was an assistant coach for the gold-medal winning U.S. squad , while Davis played in all nine games for Team USA, averaging 12.3 points and 6.6 rebounds in 20 minutes per game.

Asik appeared in seven games for Turkey, averaging 9.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in 24 minutes per game. Turkey was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Lithuania.
