The No. 4 Oklahoma Sooners traveled to Ft. Worth to take on the No. 25 TCU Horned Frogs in Big 12 action. While this is a match up between two top 25 teams, and you wouldn’t expect Oklahoma to overlook TCU, it is a bit of a trap game.

The Sooners take on their rivals the unranked and struggling Texas Longhorns next weekend. It looked like the Sooners might have been caught looking ahead a bit and TCU raced out to a 14-0 lead early in the game. Either that or Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight was too busy

TCU’s first touchdown was a Trevone Boykin rush, but it came in an odd fashion. The ball was fumbled into the end zone and TCU recovered for the score. Their second touchdown was a more traditional score with a 7-yard run from B.J. Catalon.

Oklahoma mounted a comeback with two touchdowns to end the first quarter. The second of which was a huge 75-yard touchdown pass from Trevor Knight to Sterling Shepard.

That was the lone highlight for Knight who struggled mightily in the game. For the rest of the game OU and TCU took turns duking it out and exchanging scores.

Early in the third quarter it looked like Oklahoma had finally gotten their act together with a go-ahead touchdown, their first lead of the game. It was a Samaje Perine touchdown run capping a long drive.

TCU then spend the third quarter playing from behind and trying to keep up with the Sooners.

Things got kind of wacky again in the fourth quarter. Knight threw an interception that was returned by Paul Dawson for the touchdown. Then the TCU PAT was blocked and Oklahoma returned it to collect two points, making the score 37-33.

Midway through the fourth quarter Oklahoma was knocking on the door after recovering a fumble by Boykin. They looked like they were going to get the go-ahead score again, just outside the TCU red zone. Then Knight had another pass intercepted, this time by Chris Hackett who returned it to TCU’s 34-yards.

Oklahoma’s defense bailed Knight out though, forcing another Boykin fumble and recovering the ball. This time the Sooners offense took over on the 39-yard line.

Oklahoma was facing a fourth-and-one with the game on the line and a little over three minutes left in the game. TCU’s defense was able to stop a draw play to hold onto the lead and put Oklahoma’s back against the walls.

No. 2 Oregon was upset on Thursday night, No. 3 Alabama was upset minutes before the conclusion of No. 4 Oklahoma’s game and it looked like the Horned Frogs were about to add the Sooners to the list of Top-5 teams that were upset this week.

Oklahoma got the ball back with less than a minute left on the game and struggled to get down the field. They faced a second-and-10 from the 46-yard line after spiking the ball to stop the clock. That left the Sooners with one Hail Mary attempt which they couldn’t convert, and the Horned Frogs upset the No. 4 Sooners.

It’ll be pretty easy to put this loss on the shoulders of Knight, who was 14-of-34 passing with two interceptions.
