Orlando Magic star Tobias Harris is coming into his own as a leader and a budding star, but will he be around long-term to help the Magic win?

When the Orlando Magic lost Dwight Howard, the franchise was set back a few years and they’re only just now crawling out of that hole. The team has been awful, fans haven’t been showing up and it’s been a basketball wasteland in recent years.

But star forward Tobias Harris presents hope that the Magic will turn things around and get out of their funk this season. The question then is, how long can the Magic expect to hang onto Harris before he is either the subject of endless trade rumors or stiffed on a contract offer.

According to Orlando Sentinel beat writer Brian Schmitz, the Magic can’t envision a scenario where they lose or let go of Tobias Harris or Nik Vucevic.

"GM Rob Hennigan says he can’t envision the Magic not keeping Harris, along with center Nik Vucevic. But in the basketball business, anything can happen when a team has a number in mind and a player’s agent has a wholly different number in mind."

Orlando would be best off keeping Harris as long as they can, as he’s their best chance at having an identity. Couple that with the likes of Victor Oladipo, Aaron Gordon and others, suddenly the Magic don’t look so bad after all.
