The Washington Post is one of the nation’s largest, most well-respected newspapers. But that didn’t stop them from using a 2-year-old photo on Saturday.

The Washington Nationals dropped Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Friday to the San Francisco Giants, 3-2.

Apparently, the loss was so devastating for one area newspaper that their designers traveled back in time—two years, to be exact.

And it wasn’t just any Washington newspaper that committed the error—it was The Washington Post.

Mike Morse, now with the San Francisco Giants—the Nats’ opponent in this year’s playoffs, spotted himself in the photo. He’s the guy in the batting helmet resting on his bat.

Morse hasn’t played for the Nationals since Game 5 of the 2012 NLDS against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was traded to the Seattle Mariners in January 2013.

Of course, the folks at the Post might have—you know—looked at the photo for a clue. The top of the Nationals’ dugout has a pretty clear giveaway.

Unless the words “Postseason 2012” in all caps are somehow too ambiguous to be noticed, that is.

Morse was left off the Giants’ roster for the NLDS as he tries to rehabilitate from a strained oblique.

In his first season for San Francisco after signing a one-year, $6 million free-agent contract last December, Morse hit .279/.336/.475 in 131 games, with 32 doubles, 16 homers and 61 RBI.

But despite not being on the Giants roster for the series, Morse was—in fact—not in a Nationals uniform on Friday afternoon.
