Nick Saban responds to the Alabama loss to Ole Miss

After a few years of some thinking that the Ole Miss Rebels could pull off the upset of that Alabama Crimson Tide and Nick Saban, on Saturday afternoon in Oxford, it finally happened. Bo Wallace and the Rebels took down the top-ranked Tide, showing yet again maybe a shift of power in the SEC with the 23-17 win.

Of course, as you would expect, Saban was none too happy following the game. However, despite the anger and disappointment of being knocked off here in early October, Saban reminded everyone afterward that there is still a lot that can happen this year and the goals they set for themselves are still in front of them.

“Every goal that we have as a team is still in front of us,” Saban said. “We must improve and respond the right way to losing.”

Responded to losing is the key there. As we saw at the end of last season, Alabama followed up their stunning loss to Auburn by being blown out in the Sugar Bowl by Oklahoma.

Whatever the case will be from here, they have to play better going forward, something that Nick Saban was also very quick to point out.

“We did not play as well as what we have been playing and do what we do to continue to improve,” Saban said. “I don’t know if it was the atmosphere or the bye week. Probably that they played pretty well. We needed to play our best football and we really didn’t do it.”

The season is far from over and so is the race for the SEC. But if we learned one thing from this entire weekend, and this season so far as a whole, it’s that the days are over where we can just hand the SEC title to Alabama.
