After jumping out to a 21-7 lead at halftime, the Bears imploded on offense and defense to allow 24 points in the second half.
Defense and special teams was an overriding theme in the first half as 21 of the 35 points scored were as a result of turnovers. The Panthers got on the board first after Teddy Williams interfered with the opportunity to catch a punt resulted in a loose ball that was scooped up by Philly Brown for a 79-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Matt Forte had a magnificent game on the stat sheet with 105 yards receiving, 61 yards on the ground and a touchdown. But the play that will stand out isn’t one of the highlight reel catches or runs for Forte, rather the fumble he had with under 4 minutes to play deep in the Bears own territory.
That fumble led to the second Cam Newton-to-Greg Olsen touchdown connection of the day which was a cold blooded dagger in the hearts of the Bears.
Chicago now sinks to 2-3 and are even with the Minnesota Vikings at the bottom of the North. The win for the Panthers means that 3-2 and in control of the NFC South for at least another week.
