Buccaneers vs Saints final score: Saints win 37-31 in overtime
By Hayden Kane
The New Orleans Saints got a scare at home from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but were able to pull out a late victory by a final score of 37-31.
This is the kind of game where it’s not clear if it tells us more about the Buccaneers or the Saints. Are the Buccaneers better than we thought or are the Saints worse than we thought? Ultimately the Saints held on at home, winning 37-31 at home.

Khiry Robinson played the role of hero in overtime, ripping off an 18-yard touchdown to put the game away before the Buccaneers could even get their hands on the ball.
In total, Robinson ran for 89 yards and a touchdown. Pierre Thomas pitched in two touchdowns of his own, one on the ground and one through the air.
If there’s such a thing, Drew Brees threw for a messy 371 yards in this game. He had two touchdowns and three interceptions. The New Orleans passing game was not helped by the early exit of Jimmy Graham due to a shoulder injury.
The Buccaneers were able to hang in this game thanks to the continued good play of quarterback Mike Glennon. A world beater Glennon is not, but he knows how to use his weapons and give his big receivers a chance to succeed. In total, Glennon threw for 249 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Vincent Jackson put up a huge game with eight catches for 144 yards.
As for the defenses for these teams: lacking, would be a fair description for both. Neither defense could do much of anything, save for turnovers here or there. For both teams moving forward, they will probably have to find ways to outscore opponents or limit the exposure of their defenses.
The Saints got a much-needed victory at home, but the Buccaneers showed well in this game. Lovie Smith’s bunch has shown that they will not be a walkover this season, even if they are not the dark horse team many predicted them to be.
