One of the more notable upsets from the crazy Saturday that was Week 6 in the college football season was the TCU Horned Frogs taking down the No. 4 ranked Oklahoma Sooners. Oklahoma, a pick among many to cruise their way to the College Football Playoff, was expected to have their way with the Frogs, who really weren’t all that battle tested this season.
However, they were tested on Saturday, and they passed that test with flying colors. And while a lot of the experts and fans didn’t see the upset coming, TCU head coach Gary Patterson revealed that the players on his team expected the outcome on Saturday.
"Maybe you guys didn’t expect it, but these kids did. I told them in pregame to not look at the scoreboard and play every minute. That’s how you beat really good football teams; you play every minute. Each team got breaks, but you have to find a way to win. You still have a long way to go. We’re 4-0, 1-0 in the conference. We’ll get ready for Baylor, then we’ll get ready for Oklahoma State and then we’ll get ready for Texas Tech. Right now, we’re going to get ready for Baylor. They get the same speech.”"
TCU has a bit of a rough stretch ahead, as you can see in Patterson’s comments, but after the win on Saturday over Oklahoma, they’ll have a lot more confidence in themselves going into this slate.
Last season there were some that thought TCU was the favorite in the Big 12. Maybe they were just one year off with that prediction.
