Buffalo Bills quarterback e.j. Manuel was benched after a rough start to his sophomore year in the NFL, and now we’re being reminded that Jimbo Fisher predicted this mess back in 2013.
Before E.J. Manuel hit the NFL, one man attempted to warn scouts that he lacked the tools to be a good quarterback, let alone a franchise quarterback.
That man? Manuel’s former college coach in Jimbo Fisher of Florida State University, reports Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Bear Goggles On
While less than 16 games seems to be an insufficient sample size to completely write off Manuel as an above-average quarterback in the NFL, Fisher’s words have played true up until this point.
Appearing in 14 games through his first two seasons, Manuel has been responsible for 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while tossing a completion percentage of 58.6. And in that time, Manuel has led the Buffalo Bills to a mediocre 6-8 record.
Following last weeks loss to the Houston Texans, the Buffalo Bills decided to go in another direction at quarterback, starting veteran Kyle Orton at QB, pushing Manuel to the bench.
With Orton signed to a one-year deal, Manuel’s future with the Bills is still in play. He has the weapons around him — Fred Jackson, C.J. Spiller, Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, and Scott Chandler. It’s just a matter of Manuel putting it all together in hopes of leading the Bills atop a AFC East division that looks to be open as the New England Patriots have struggled out the gates.
As harsh as it may seem, it looks like Jimbo Fisher may have been right about his old quarterback.
