Johnny Manziel hasn’t started a single game in the NFL, yet he’s one of the league’s most talked about players. Is he the distraction so many people predicted he’d be?
The Cleveland Browns took some heat for drafting Johnny Manziel this year as many believed he’d be nothing but a distraction to the team. He didn’t slow down his partying, which offended some of his observers and basically all of his critics, but so far his teammates aren’t jumping on him to calm down.
In fact, the opposite is happening and Manziel is drawing praise from those in the locker room who have noticed his work ethic.
Wide receiver Nate Burleson is one of those players. According to Sirius XM Radio host Zig Fracassi, the Browns are impressed with how Manziel can party on his own but be all football when he’s at the team facility and when he needs to be.
This news is a bit disappointing to those who want to believe that all Johnny Manziel is to the Browns is a distraction, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Instead, it appears that the rookie is focusing on football while still getting his partying in which is an extra point of frustration for his critics.
He hasn’t started yet and we have no idea what it looks like when he leads a pro team on his own in meaningful games. But so far his off-field antics aren’t watering down his focus, and Browns fans are really hoping it stays that way.
