The mugshot of Derrick Shelby is not very flattering
Miami Dolphins defensive end Derrick Shelby was arrested early Saturday morning in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., on charges of trespassing and resisting arrest without violence, according to a report.
The Palm Beach Post reported the arrest, which occurred at 2:28 a.m. Saturday. He was released on bond at 10:21 a.m.
But his booking photo, released by Eric Kay of CBS Sports via Twitter, doesn’t look like violence was resisted all that much:
According to police, Shelby allegedly caused a disturbance at a club named Off the Hookah (interpret that as you will) and was asked to leave by security officers. He refused and was taken into custody.

Shelby’s attorney, Daniel Rosenburg, said he would enter a plea of not guilty to the two misdemeanor charges on Monday morning. Shelby does not have to appear at the hearing.
Rosenburg also addressed the somewhat battered condition of Shelby in the booking photo.
"“There was no report of a fight (in the club) or anything like that. The only place the bruising can come from is from the police. I don’t want to get into that too much. When you see charges of resisting without violence and you see photos like that there’s a lot of conflicting information.”"
The Dolphins are on their bye week this week and players have been off since Wednesday afternoon. Practice resumes Monday.
Shelby has played 127 snaps in four games, both at defensive end and defensive tackle, for the Dolphins this season. The 25-year-old has six tackles and two sacks.
Shelby was signed by Miami as an undrafted free agent out of Utah in 2012. After playing sparingly as a rookie, he recorded 34 tackles, two forced fumbles and 2½ sacks last season for the Dolphins.
