New York Jets owner Woody Johnson continues defense of Roger Goodell
By Josh Hill
New York Jets owner Woody Johnson has been a figure that sometimes rubs folks the wrong way, and his undying support of Roger Goodell likely won’t improve that standing.
The domestic abuse scandals in the NFL have led to just about everyone with a conscious to condemn Roger Goodell and his actions. The NFL has been set back a few years in just a few weeks time, as Goodell has been the subject of cover up claims, accused of poor judgement and neglect.

All of this has led to his being trolled by every comedian everywhere from those on Saturday Night Live to even Ben Affleck and Bil Maher. Fans have called for his resignation, a charge led by Keith Olbermann, but the NFL owners who pay Goodell have faith that he will remain in power.
According to Kristian Dyer of Yahoo Sports, New York Jets owner Johnson is fully supportive of Goodell and hopes that the same goes for his fellow owners across the league.
"I haven’t talked to the league owners recently, we have a meeting next week so I’ll get to see them all,” Johnson said. “I think the general opinion is that Roger has over the last 15 (years) that I’ve known Roger and as commissioner for the last number of years – is that he’s an honest person, trying to do a good job. Normally very good judgment. I think the owners are going to be supportive.”"
Goodell has been an awful commissioner when the NFL needed him the most, and that’s something that is frustrating fans to no end. He won’t be forced to resign, it seems, which could lead to a rift between fans and ownership that supports Goodell — especially ownership in control of bad teams.
