The Alabama Crimson Tide lost for the first time this season as they blew a fourth-quarter lead to the Ole Miss Rebels on the road as the Tide have now lost three of their last seven games, but also lost a key member of their offense on Saturday in Oxford as Kenyan Drake broke his leg.

Drake fractured his leg and to the viewers watching from their living rooms and those in attendance knew this was a devastating injury and one that would likely end the season for the versatile running back.

The assumptions were confirmed by head coach Nick Saban on Monday morning who said Drake has already undergone surgery to repair the ugly injury and is out for the remainder of the season. Saban said it would require at least eight-to-10 weeks before he “could even think about playing football again.”

Alabama arguably has the deepest group of running backs in the nation so they will try to absorb the loss of Drake as best they can with a stable of former five-star recruits, including Derrick Henry who figures to see even more time in a backup role to starting running back T.J. Yeldon.

This could also mean additional playing time for Tyren Jones and Altee Tenpenny as the No. 3 running back and we could see a few more runs by quarterback Blake Sims.

As valuable as Drake is as a runner, his best attribute is as a receiver out of the backfield where he ranks second the team in receiving yards and touchdowns to Amari Cooper.
