Microsoft sells 100,000 Xbox One’s in China on day one
Microsoft just recently launched the Xbox One to China after having the console previously delayed. Despite Chinese gamers needing to wait nearly a year after the console was first introduced in North America, to call the reception anything less than warm is to not do it justice.

Thanks to a partnership with BesTV, the Xbox One clocked in over 100,000 units sold in the very first day of its launch. BestTV partnered with Microsoft in launching the Xbox One, and with sales over 100,000 units in the first 24 hours, Microsoft is projecting sales numbers over 1 million in the first 12 months.
The Xbox One was released in China on September 29 and was done so as Microsoft entered the market after China lifted what was a 12 year ban on consoles. China lifted the ban, which was designed to prevent children from potential harmful effects of video games, in January 2014.
Japan has transitioned heavily to mobile gaming, but China represents a very largely untapped amount of resources for Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. In what could be viewed as a gamble, Microsoft took a chance and is benefiting in a very big way.
Considering the length of the console ban in China, it could have been reasoned that the demand was not going to be there and that the newly introduced console would simply sit on store shelves. However, the adverse train of thought would be that because consoles have been extinct for so long, whoever came first would make out like a bandit.
So far, it appears that Microsoft is feeling the effects from the latter explanation, and with Asia boosting sales for the console, Microsoft has to be happy with the results. Look for the Xbox One to continue to grow in the new country, and for a more targeted approach to be rolled out.
