Ball was initially believed to have suffered a “major” groin injury and could miss significant time, but they appear to have dodged a bullett with the former Wisconsin Badgers star running back.

According to Mike Klis of the Denver Post Ball is expected to be out-two-three weeks and won’t require surgery.

Broncos head coach John Fox confirmed the groin strain will keep him out of practice and on the sidelines for as much as three weeks.

Ball was limited to only seven yards in the win against the Cardinals on six carries before the injury took place. For the season, Ball has 172 yards and a touchdown on 55 carries in his first year as the team’s starting running back.

With Ball out of the lineup for the next twp-three weeks, third-year running back Ronnie Hillman is expected to see the majority of the carries and start with rookie Juwan Thompson and C.J. Anderson behind him on the depth chart.

Hillman had 64 yards on 16 carries in relief of Hill on Sunday in what was his second game of the year.
