San Francisco 49ers’ offensive lineman Alex Boone defended head coach Jim Harbaugh.
The San Francisco 49ers continue to win despite rumors running wild that coach Jim Harbaugh is serving his last year as head coach. Players have jumped to Harbaugh’s defense since rumors have surfaced, and now you can add guard Alex Boone to those who are fed up with all this talk about Harbaugh losing the room.

“I’m really kind of sick of everybody talking about my coach, especially because he’s like a brother to me,” Boone said after Sunday’s victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, per Pro Football Talk. “So if I were everybody I’d just keep their mouth shut because they don’t want me coming after them. Especially Jay Glazer, Deion, all these guys. I’m kind of sick of it. Leave my coach alone.”
Boone was asked why rumors persisted around Harbaugh and Boone snapped that those who continued to do so were ‘losers’.
“I’m just sick of everybody talking about our coach,” Boone said. “Why’s it got to be all the drama? Leave our team alone.”
The San Francisco 49ers haven’t been able to silence the Harbaugh rumors, but they have silenced some of the doubters after rattling off two straight victories over quality opponents. The team beat the Philadelphia Eagles at home in Week 4 then did the same to the Chiefs in Week 5 to improve to 3-2.
It doesn’t appear that Boone, Harbaugh, or anyone else will escape this story though. Whether it’s legitimate concerns bringing this up in the locker room or a disgruntled media member with an agenda, stories of Harbaugh losing the team continue to dog them wherever they go.
Continued victories should do wonders to dispel any notions of a fractured locker room though. The San Francisco 49ers will have plenty of chances to accrue such as they visit the struggling St. Louis Rams in Week 6.
