Arian Foster and Brian Cushing are good to go for Texans

Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said running back Arian Foster and inside linebacker Brian Cushing will both start for Thursday’s AFC South showdown against the Colts during his post-practice meeting with the media.

Foster, who missed one game this season with recurring hamstring problems, looked like the All-Pro back he was in 2010 and 2011 during Sunday’s 20-17 overtime loss at the Cowboys, rushing for a season-best 157 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-tying score in the game’s final minute that forced the extra session.

The sixth-year pro enters this week as the NFL’s third-leading rusher with 404 yards, trailing only DeMarco Murray of the Cowboys (670) and the Steelers’ Le’Veon Bell (470). Foster is also third on the team with 13 receptions for 99 yards.

Foster has made a career of punishing the Indianapolis defense, averaging 150.4 yards in five games against the Colts, averaging 6.6 yards per carry to go along with six touchdowns. His 752 career yards against Indianapolis is the most he has put up on any team.

Cushing leads the Texans with 45 total tackles, including 28 solo stops. He recorded eight tackles against the Cowboys, which also included his first sack of the season.

The Texans brought Cushing along slowly after he missed the team’s final 10 games last season with a broken leg and a torn knee ligament. That process came to an end after he recorded 17 tackles in Houston’s week three defeat at the Giants.

Houston will be without defensive end Jadeveon Clowney for at least one more game. The first overall pick in the draft has not played since the opener after sustaining a meniscus injury.
