Denver Broncos running back Montee Ball got banged up in the win on Sunday, and as a result the team will be working out a few familiar names to replace him.

Montee Ball going down for the Denver Broncos isn’t the end of the world, but it’s something that the team is going to have to get past in the short term. They don’t have much of a backfield threat, rather they just throw whoever in there to make sure nothing goes wrong.

Ronnie Hillman will still see some nice carries, but he’s going to be joined by an outside force that the Broncos pick up on the open market. According to the Denver Post, the Broncos are expected to work out several running backs this week to replace Montee Ball, and one of those backs is former Detroit Lions starter Mikel LeShoure.

LeShoure was cut this offseason when the Lions decided that Reggie Bush and Joique Bell were going to be their main two starters with Theo Riddick backing them up.

He wasn’t terrible with the Lions, rather LeShoure never got a good shot to prove himself. He was slow out of the gate — again, not terribly so — but was quickly joined and then replaced by Reggie Bush as the starter. Similarly, he was joined by and then replaced by Joique Bell as the backup and then partner to Bush in the backfield.

There’s no saying that Denver will sign LeShoure, but the team is going to be looking very seriously at adding him as he seems to be one of the better options on the market. Of course, BenJarvus Green-Ellis remains an option as well, as one could certainly see the Law Firm banging around the Broncos offense every few plays these upcoming weeks.
