Ronnie Hillman-RB-Denver Broncos (0.9%)

Hillman tops our list this week based on the huge opportunity that opened up for him when Montee Ball went down injured this past Sunday against Arizona.  Hillman stepped in and took 15 carries for 64 yards against an extremely tough Arizona run defense that had shut down everyone they had faced this season.

Hillman will be the feature back in the Broncos offense for the next couple weeks as Ball returns from his groin strain.  The exact severity of the injury isn’t clear, but it looks like 1-3 weeks initially.  Hillman doesn’t have a ton of long-term value since Ball is expected back, and the Broncos are facing off with tough run defenses the next two weeks against the Jets and 49ers.

Even with those matchups next up, Hillman is still the first name to look for on the waiver wire this week, and can be used as a RB2 for as long as he’s the main back in Denver.  Hillman is involved in the passing game as a receiver and an effective blocker, so he should see the majority of work for Peyton and the Broncos for the next week or two.
