Branden Oliver-RB-San Diego Chargers (0.5%)

The second running back owned in less than 1% of leagues at the top of our list is Branden Oliver.  Oliver was an undrafted free agent who was pressed into service for San Diego on Sunday when they lost the last remaining member of their top three backs headed into the year.  With Danny Woodhead and Ryan Mathews already sidelined, Donald Brown’s concussion left Oliver as the primary back.

He showed that he was up to the task as he ran for 114 yards and a touchdown on his 19 carries while he added a second touchdown and 68 yards on four catches.  Oliver was solid in pass protection and definitely looked like he serves a bigger role even with Mathews returns in a few weeks.

In week 6, Oliver and the Chargers face the hapless Raiders, and Oliver is expected to be the top back for San Diego.  He’s a solid RB2 this week based on matchup but could also retain his share of the carries since San Diego likes to use a backfield rotation even when their backfield is all healthy.
