Gerald Henderson out 1-2 weeks with hamstring injury
Charlotte Hornets’ swingman Gerald Henderson out 1-2 weeks with a hamstring injury
It looks like Charlotte Hornets shooting guard Gerald Henderson will miss majority of the preseason as the teams PR says he’ll be out for one to two weeks because of a hamstring injury.

In the past, this would’ve been a cause for huge concern for the Hornets as they usually lacked depth at the wing position, but with Lance Stephenson in the picture, the Hornets coaching staff can approach Gerald Henderson’s injury with precaution and little need to rush him back into the picture.
A lottery pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, Gerald Henderson has failed to make a leap like many of his draft peers (Curry, Harden, Griffin, Lawson, Holiday). Despite all of that, he’s remained a viable rotation player for this team, averaging 14.0 points on 43% shooting, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game last season.
Now in a different role, it’ll be interesting to see what direction Gerald Henderson’s career takes at this point. Re-signing with the Hornets in the summer of 2013, Gerald Henderson won’t reach free agency until the upcoming summer (2016 if Henderson opts into his $6 million player option).
With that on his mind, a contract year could be in line for Gerald Henderson … at least when he returns from this ailing ankle injury.
