Last week word began to get out that Stone Cold Steve Austin had revealed that he is training for a “comeback.” Well when everyone heard those words, it was automatically assumed that The Rattlesnake was talking about a comeback to the world of professional wrestling for at least one more wrestling match.
Well, it seems that we all should have been quick to remember what happens when you assume.
On his blog, former WWE broadcaster and Austin’s friend, Jim Ross, shot down the rumors of Austin getting back into shape for a comeback to the ring, Instead, he let it be known that Austin is simply just training for a comeback to–well, training, really.
"Bottom line is that Steve was talking to a man who used to train with ‘Arnold’ back in the day at the Gold’s Gym in Venice and Steve said he was training to prepare to return to Gold’s Gym to train. They were talking about training, not wrestling, and how working out at Gold’s in Venice wasn’t for everyone. When the fans heard Austin say that he was “training for a comeback” they assumed that he meant to the ring which in turn means WrestleMania 31.While Steve always keeps an open mind on returning to the ring for one last match, that’s not an immediate goal of his or even on the back burner."
Now does this mean that we will never see Austin in the ring again? No, absolutely not. We’ve all learned many times not to say never in the world of professional wrestling. Crazier things have happened, and Austin returning wouldn’t shock many.
It’s just, not anytime soon.
