Former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz is with the Buffalo Bills now, and he told his new team a while back that he wanted to be carried off the field if they won. This is usually saved for heroic occasions on the grandest of stages.

For instance, Ole Miss fans carried quarterback Bo Wallace off the field after he led the team to an upset win over then-No. 3 Alabama last weekend. That makes sense, you defeated the most dominant college football program in recent years, a win that catapulted the team into the national championship playoff picture.

So it was a little odd to see the Bills carrying Schwartz off the field after an early regular season win over the Lions. The teams aren’t rivals, no trophy was on the line, it was just a routine regular season game, though it had special meaning for Schwartz.

Lions wide receiver Golden Tate didn’t appreciate the move and had some strong words about it afterwards.

That wasn’t the only shot Tate took.

“It’s something that doesn’t go unnoticed… It’s in the past. Hopefully they feel good about the Rudy moment that they had,” Tate said, also via Leyden.
