Matt Adams delivered an incredible go-ahead home run for the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night as the team advanced to their fourth straight National League Championship Series. He celebrated accordingly.
The St. Louis Cardinals were looking for a hero on Tuesday night in Game 4 of the NLDS. They were looking for somebody to come through in a big spot to propel them to their fourth straight appearance in the NLCS.

Matt Adams was that hero, delivering a dramatic an unexpected three-run home run against Clayton Kershaw. To come through in that spot against Kershaw, left on left, is about as good as it gets.
That fact was not lost on Adams. The big man celebrated accordingly. We call this, “Matt Adams hops for joy.”

Matt Adams hops? Matt Adams skips? Matt Adams prances? Whatever it is, it is a celebration that is well-deserved. For now, Adams has this little slice of baseball history all to himself after he came through against the best pitcher on the planet.
This moment will be remember first and foremost for the home run itself. But the memories and stories of Adams hopping to first and almost missing the base won’t be far behind.
