Matt Carpenter still chasing history

St. Louis Cardinals’ Matt Carpenter has had a postseason to remember so far. Carpenter has hit a home run in each of the first three games of his team’s series against the Dodgers and he will look to keep up that input tonight and bounce the Dodgers out of the playoffs.

The Cardinals are in the driver’s seat.

They’re at home and have a chance to punch their ticket into the next round and face either the Giants or the Nationals. There is only one problem that the Cardinals are facing and his name is Clayton Kershaw. The Cardinals annihilated Kershaw, jumping him for eight runs in the series opener. But tonight Kershaw will be determined to get revenge.

It’s rare to hit Kershaw hard once, but to do it twice is almost unimaginable. Kershaw has never lost a start when he is coming off of three days rest, and if that trend continues tonight, the Dodgers will be hosting a Game 5 in their home stadium.

If the Cardinals stand a chance of jumping Kershaw again they will need Matt Carpenter to continue his success and have another big game hitting the ball. Carpenter will try to keep his streak of homering in each playoff game in tact. Not many guys were fortunate enough to homer in three games, but if Carpenter manages to do it in four consecutive games–that would be monumental.
