New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith is having a rough start to the 2014 NFL Season. Smith has led New York to just one win in five tries and Michael Vick replaced him mid-game in Week 5.

However, Jets coach Rex Ryan, despite his benching of Smith on Sunday, is sticking with the West Virginia product.
Ryan said after New York’s 31-0 loss to the San Diego Chargers that Smith would remain his starter and gave his quarterback a further vote of confidence on Tuesday.
While many will roll their eyes at these comments, what else is Ryan supposed to say at this time? Ryan committed to Smith as his starter, so all he can do at this point is express confidence and hope the quarterback turns it around.
Whether Ryan truly has faith in Smith is another discussion. One has to figure that Ryan, who is coaching for his job, will go to Vick if Smith struggles again on Sunday versus the Denver Broncos.
Smith has thrown for 949 yards, four touchdowns and six interceptions through five games this season. For his career, Smith has thrown 11 more interceptions (27) than touchdowns (16).
The Jets drafted Smith with a second-round pick during the 2013 NFL Draft.
