Chicago Bears (2-3) at Atlanta Falcons (2-3)

The Bears and the Falcons have the shown flashes of dominance this season, but they haven’t been able to bring the “3 E’s” — effort, energy, execution– on a consistent basis. With each team at 2-3, it’s not quite a must-win situation this early in the season but falling to 2-4 would not be ideal. The winners of the NFC North and South could easily be 9-7 at this rate. That’s how disappointing those divisions have been thus far.

Chicago’s defense has allowed 69 points the last two weeks, and the offense has yet to pile on the points like so many expected at the beginning of the season. The Bears have been banged up lately and receivers Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffrey have still been solid for the Bears, but the team has failed to put it all together through the first five weeks of the season. Time is running out.

Same for the Falcons. This week, the Falcons have a favorable matchup on the outside with Julio Jones against a unproven Bears’ secondary. The Falcons will need more than Jones to take down the Bears, though. Last week against the Giants, Jones caught 11 passes from Matt Ryan, but no other Falcons’ receiver caught more than two passes. That’s not good enough.

I picked the Bears to win their division, and I think they flex their muscle in this game with a strong road win a tough place to play.
