Ryan Clark knows a thing or two about a winning team when he sees one, and he has high praise for Russell Wilson.
The Washington Redskins fell to the Seattle Seahawks last night by a final score of 27-17, and Seahawks’ quarterback Russell Wilson came through with a huge game to help close the game out. There have been quite a few players weighing in on Wilson over the past year, and Redskins’ safety Ryan Clark did just that following the game. Clark made it very clear that he believes that Wilson is the best player in the NFL.

“We got beat by a better team. We got beat by, as far as I’m concerned this weekend, the best player in the NFL. Russell Wilson made every play he had to make for his team to win, and we didn’t.”
Clark has been a very well respected safety in the NFL for quite some time, and this type of comment carries some weight. Wilson may not necessarily be the best “player” in the NFL, but hearing things like this show just how good he is. There is still plenty of room for Wilson to grow, which is scary for opponents to think about.
Seattle is looking smarter and smarter each season for drafting Wilson with the 75th overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He has become a franchise quarterback and has forced his name into the conversation of best quarterbacks in the entire league. It’s hard to rank him over players like Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers, but he has been playing better than both Tom Brady and Drew Brees this season.
Wilson already has an impressive NFL resume with a Super Bowl win and improvement in each of his three NFL seasons, and he has easily had the most success of any quarterback drafted in 2012. Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III were expected to be the top two quarterbacks out of the draft, but Wilson has been the most successful by far. These types of comments from respected defensive players shows just how good Wilson has become.
