Ryan Zimmerman is not in the Washington Nationals’ lineup for game 4.

The Washington Nationals thought there would be a chance Ryan Zimmerman would get a start in one of the games of their National League Divisional Series against the San Francisco Giants, but Ryan Zimmerman isn’t in the lineup for Game Four:

Ryan Zimmerman is primarily a third baseman, but has been battling a hamstring injury that has already forced him to miss 55 regular-season games. He’s been used in left field and first base following the good play of third baseman Anthony Rendon in Ryan Zimmerman’s absence.

Ryan Zimmerman hasn’t started a game in the playoffs yet. It seems fair to assume that if these games weren’t postseason games, Ryan Zimmerman would almost certainly not be available, but since they are, the Nationals are taking it day-by-day with him.

It’s been a rough season for Ryan Zimmerman – the 30-year old played in his fewest games since his rookie season. He only hit five home runs, and slashed .280/.342/.449, with a weighted on base average (wOBA) of .346. Ryan Zimmerman could still be used by manager Matt Williams as a pinch-hitter off the bench, but his status seems to vary daily.
