Brandon Dubinsky of the Columbus Blue Jackets will miss six weeks following abdominal surgery
Brandon Dubinsky, 28, of the Columbus Blue Jackets reportedly underwent abdominal surgery and will be out at least six weeks. Brandon Dubinsky’s was injured in Monday’s practice and he was originally listed as day-to-day. However, it was decided that surgery was the best option. Brandon Dubinsky’s loss will certainly be felt by the Blue Jackets as he is a key player who plays a big role in the offense.

Brandon Dubinsky, who wears an “A” for the Blue Jackets, leads by example on the team. His 16 goals and 34 assists last season was the third-highest mark on the team. Brandon Dubinsky will also certainly be missed in the face-off circle where he ranked 46th in the league with a 52.9% face-off percentage last season.
With big names such as Boone Jenner, and Nathan Horton also out of the lineup, the Blue Jackets will have their depth tested early on in the season. Mark Dano, a 19 year old Slovakian player, is expected to start the season on the Blue Jackets’ first line.
Columbus, a team that has made the playoffs just twice in their thirteen years in the league, will certainly need their star players to be healthy, should they look to build off the success of last season. The Blue Jackets met the Penguins in the first round of last years playoffs and lost in six games, after giving the Penguins all that they could handle.
Sitting in a division with the Penguins, Rangers, Flyers, and Capitals, a good start to the season would certainly be beneficial for the Blue Jackets.
With a healthy lineup, the Blue Jackets have proven that they can trouble the best of teams on any given night. They will certainly look forward to the returns of Horton, Jenner, and Dubinsky.
