The Cleveland Cavaliers need a rim protector this season — unless they don’t. The big topic of discussion this offseason has been about how the Cavaliers roster still isn’t complete but there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of panic in the front office.

David Griffin is going to be viewed as a genius if this all works, but he may not be looking for the rim protector fans think the team needs.
According to NBA scribe Chuck Myron from Hoops Rumors:
"It sounds like GM David Griffin isn’t too worried about his rim protection, at least at this point, so I wouldn’t expect him to make a move before the start of the season. I think he’d like to get a look at how it all meshes and revisit the idea of tinkering after December 15th, when most players signed in the offseason can be traded."
Earlier this week we heard from Zach Lowe that the Cavaliers are actually looking for a wing defender, which could be why there hasn’t been much said about a rim protector being pursued.
That doesn’t mean we’re not going to see a rim protector skipped over by the Cavaliers, but the need may not be as pressing as it seems.
