Dwyane Wade on Victor Oladipo: ‘The sky’s the limit for him’
Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade believes “the sky’s the limit” for Orlando Magic guard Victor Oladipo.
The Orlando Magic viewed Victor Oladipo as the top player in the 2013 NBA Draft.

That’s why they must have been ecstatic to use the number two overall pick on him. Victor Oladipo had a solid rookie season and finished second in the voting for the Rookie of the Year Award.
Now, in his second year, Victor Oladipo is not only trying to become a better player but he wants to become a leader. One player he has modeled his game off of is Miami Heat guard Dywane Wade. The two played for the same head coach, Tom Crean, in college (Dwyane Wade with the Marquette Golden Eagles and Victor Oladipo with the Indiana Hoosiers).
On Tuesday night, Victor Oladipo and the Magic traveled to Miami to battle the Heat in their preseason opener. Although Victor Oladipo is out with a sprained MCL, Dwyane Wade had plenty of kind things to say about Victor Oladipo.
“The sky’s the limit for him,” Wade said of Oladipo on Tuesday, before Wade’s Heat faced Oladipo’s Orlando Magic in a preseason game at AmericanAirlines Arena via Josh Robbins of The Orlando Sentinel.
Wade added: “Just seeing him, he does very similar things to the way I played when I was young, and he picks things up pretty fast. He can be as good as he wants to be in the sense of how much work he puts in on his game and on his body as well, because he has a game like me.”
Wade went on to praise his work ethic.
That’s very high praise for Victor Oladipo, who averaged 13.8 points, 4.1 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game while shooting 41.9% from the field, 32.7% from beyond the arc and 78.0% from the charity stripe last season.
