Philadelphia, it seems, will have no tolerance for anything but perfection from Craig Berube

To be fair, the Philadelphia Flyers are getting a little pissed.

The team has failed to win a Stanley Cup since 1975, and the past few seasons have seen what should have been a phenomenal team grossly underperform.

According to online bookmaker Bodog, the likelihood of the team’s new head coach, Craig Berube, getting fired is 4/1. It seems that the Flyers are desperate to make things happen immediately- and should Berube be unable to produce results before the playoffs, he’s likely to be looking for a job elsewhere.

I find this kind of unfair, since Berube is the guy who stepped in for a team who started last season 0-3.

If it’s any consolation, Berube, you aren’t the worst on the list. Bodog claims that the likelihood of Randy Carlyle, head coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, getting fired is 5/2. I personally find that a little generous of Bodog, since i think there’s a 150% chance that Carlyle’s out by January, but the optimism is refreshing.

The other coaches on the list, for the most part, seem to make sense. Sandwiched between Carlyle and Berube is New York Islanders head coach, Jack Capuano, who apparently has a three-in-one chance of losing his job by April. Calgary, Ottowa, Edmonton, Arizona, and San Jose round out the top of the list, reminding fans that it doesn’t matter how beloved your coach is- when you miss the playoffs (or choke very badly during them), your coach has to go.
