The Utah Jazz have invested big money into their future in each of the last two seasons.
In 2013, they reached a four-year, $49 million contract extension with big man Derrick Favors. This offseason, they let restricted free agent swingman Gordon Hayward test the market. He visited the Charlotte Hornets and came away impressed, signing an offer sheet with the Hornets worth $63 million over four years. The Jazz decided to match the offer for Gordon Hayward and retained him.
The Jazz are hoping Derrick Favors and Gordon Hayward can lead a young group that includes Enes Kanter, Alec Burks, Trey Burke and Dante Exum.
On Tuesday, the Jazz squared off against the Portland Trail Blazers. In the second quarter, Trail Blazers’ guard C.J. McCollum got out on a fast break but Gordon Hayward blocked his shot.
