Henrik Lundqvist is fine with being called the king, because he’s got a regal enough name

Not like the name ‘Daniel’.

Dear Henrik Lundqvist, that was extremely insensitive. Let’s talk about the huge family feud you probably just caused in the Sedin household (because I’m still convinced the Sedin twins live in bunk beds and will never ever be separated).

During the round-table discussion between Jonathan Toews, Sidney Crosby, and Henrik Lundqvist, the goaltender admitted that he’s fine with being called ‘King Henrik’ because it works with his name.

According to Lundqvist, things would have been different if his parents had named him Daniel. He claims that Henrik is an older, more regal-sounding name, though, so it makes the nickname more natural and okay.

If that’s not the most elitist thing you’ve ever heard, then I don’t even know where to begin. Of course, this DID come from THE Henrik Lundqvist, who might be the only NHL player beautiful enough to be a perennial GQ model. If anyone is going to allow being called ‘the King’, it would be him.

Meanwhile, Sidney Crosby was sitting at the corner of the table, muttering about how he’s too old to still be called ‘Sid the Kid’.
