Kansas City Royals slugger Billy Butler is not what you’d define as light-footed, but he’s been blessed for stealing a base in the ALDS.

Billy Butler is one of the best players the Kansas City Royals have and has be crucial to their run to the ALCS this year, but one of his more memorable plays came in the ALDS. Butler has been around for eight seasons in baseball, but only has six stolen bases.

That sixth stolen base came against the Los Angeles Angels, and it’s one that is being played up in the excitement and lore of this playoff run the Royals are on.

While stealing is a sin in the Christian religion, one church is willing to make an exception for Butler after his stolen base against the Angels.

This is one of those hilarious baseball stories that you can see being a throwaway quote in a Ken burns documentary about the sport.

What is also shows is  that the entire state of Missouri is on on this Royals run — well, except those pesky Cardinals fans. There have long been factions of the state devoted to the Royals, and now that the team is soaring in the playoffs, stories like this are popping up all over to display the love the state has for the team.
