The Armchair Quarterback’s guide to the NFL: Week 6
The Armchair Quarterback takes a look at Week 6 of the NFL slate
Welcome to the Armchair Quarterback’s guide to week 6 of the NFL season. For anyone that may be reading this column for the first time, hopefully you’ll find it to be one of the best weekly game preview and prediction columns around. Each week I take a look at every game on the NFL schedule, factor in each team’s strengths and weaknesses and previous head to head match ups and combine it with a few of my own observations to help give you a good idea of who is going to come out victorious in that week’s match ups.
After a mediocre showing in week four I rebounded last week with a 12-3 record for my picks. That brings my overall record on the season to 52-24. It may not be perfect, but it’s still better than almost everyone picking games at the other major sports media outlets. The only person I’ve found with a better record is (sigh) Pete Prisco over at CBS who is still clinging to a one game lead on me at 53-23. I am also five for five in my “Survivor Pool Lock of the Week” picks where I give you the best bet to keep you alive if you’re in a knock out pool with friends or coworkers. Since most of those pools don’t allow you to pick the same team twice in a season those picks will start getting more difficult soon.
This week’s slate of games presents a big challenge when trying to correctly pick the winners. Much like week four there are a ton of games where the oddsmakers see it as close. Out of the fifteen games on the schedule only five of them have point spreads of more than a field goal. I’m putting my prognosticating skills to the test this week. I’ve selected eight road winners and am picking the Vegas underdog in six games. This could either be a week where I prove my brilliance or fall back to the pack with most of the others that predict games.
With that said, let’s get to this week’s match ups……
