Jacksonville Jaguars at Tennessee Titans

Pop Quiz: Where did the Jaguars get their first win of the season last year after starting 0-8?

The answer………in Tennessee against the Titans. While the Jags might be 0-5 instead of 0-8 this season, I see things playing out in much the same way. Jake Locker didn’t practice Wednesday and his status for the game is very much in doubt. While the Titans aren’t great with Locker at QB, they’re a lot better with him than with Charlie Whitehurst under center. Blake Bortles, while still a rookie, is an upgrade over Chad Henne in Jacksonville. I think this game will likely be ugly to watch, but without Locker I think the Jaguars will be able to get their first win of the season.

Green Bay Packers at Miami Dolphins

This pick is going to surprise some people. Yes, the Dolphins have issues. Yes, the Packers have the best player on the field in Aaron Rodgers. However, I feel like the match ups favor the Dolphins in this one. First off, the Packers are giving up the most rushing yards per game of any team in the NFL and the Dolphins have the fifth rated rushing attack. That means that Miami should be able to sustain drives and keep Rodgers off the field. Second, the weakest part of the Green Bay offense is their offensive line and Miami has a great pass rushing front seven. While Aaron Rodgers and his wide receivers will keep it close I’m taking the Dolphins to win at home in another upset.
